Monday, September 17th, 1956: 1956 DJIL Batting Title to Daniel Carr
Kings second baseman Daniel Carr hit the cover off the ball all year long and today picked up the Dow Jones Industrials League batting crown. The 24-year-old Carr hit .359 with 5 home runs and 72 RBIs. He also delivered 203 hits, including 42 doubles and 9 triples, played in 142 games and scored 102 runs.
Saturday, September 1st, 1956: Dow Jones Industrials League Names Rookie of Month
Daniel Carr earned August's Rookie of the Month honors in the Dow Jones Industrials League for last month's performance. The boyish Westinghouse second baseman might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level.

Carr hit .379 with 1 home run, 13 RBIs and 23 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award.

This year Carr is batting .365 with 4 home runs and 68 RBIs. In 128 games he has scored 94 times.

It can be difficult for a young player to step out of the shadows and assert himself in the Dow Jones Industrials League, but last week Daniel Carr of the Westinghouse Kings reminded everyone just why he's here as he threw up numbers that made him an easy selection for Player of the Week.

Carr rocked opposing pitching for a .571 average (12-21), 1 home run and 4 RBIs to come away with the award.

In 1956 Carr is hitting .364 with 178 hits, 4 home runs, 64 RBIs, .440 OBP and has scored 91 runs.
